everything you need for your aquatic plants including special formulated aquatic plant
soil (you can't use regular garden or potting soil mixes), fertilizers and aquatic plant
baskets that come in different sizes and shapes.
*TIP: Need some
aquatic plant soil to plant your aquatic plants in? Try using untreated
kitty litter! It's economical and does the job just fine! First, line
the baskets with about 3 or 4 pages of newspaper (not the comic section). Then, fill
the pot 1/2 full of untreated kitty litter. Place your aquatic plant in then fill
with the rest of the pot with untreated kitty litter. You can put an inch or so of
pea gravel or larger rocks on top of the pot to keep the larger fish from burrowing in to
your plants and uprooting them in the process. If your aquatic plants require
different depths of planting, be sure to do so accordingly but you can easily use untreated
kitty litter as the planting medium. Good luck! :o) |
