Mexican terracotta pottery made with Tecate clay. Found only in
north-western Mexico, Tecate clay is very fine and strong. This pottery
is still hand-made, using special molds to shape the product. The
process takes one week from throwing the pot, adding the design, drying
and finally firing at high temperature for 12 hours. After firing,
natural finished product is dipped in a silicone pottery sealer to add
long life.
Painted items are hand-painted using three base coats of pottery color
stain with a final earthen coat for an aged look and feel. It is then
dipped in silicone sealer.
