What's the difference????
The difference between our mini pond kit above and our deluxe pond kits below is BASICALLY this (please compare exact pond kits for accurate comparison):
the mini pond kit has smaller, flexible PVC pipe, smaller check valve assembly, smaller pump, no waterfall installation kit, no underwater lights, no beneficial
bacteria, no barley extract and the mini skimmer cannot be upgraded to have the UV light installed in it.  The mini pond kits are great for someone who just wants a small, backyard without 'all the bells and whistles' and who wants a small waterfall (14" wide).  The mini pond kits are also shipped via UPS instead of motor freight which also saves on the shipping charges.

If you want a deeper pond, simply make the pond narrower and deeper than the described dimensions below (the calculated pond depth for the ponds below is 18").  The pond dimensions below are only examples.  You can create your pond any size you wish as long as the liner fits the pond.  These kits can be customized, with additional products or larger sizes, etc. available at an additional cost (basically, the cost difference is the difference in cost between the products that you are switching out.  For example, if you want to purchase one of the pond kits below and you want a larger then just calculate the difference between the liner prices as listed on our pond liner webpage and this difference would be added to the cost of the pond kit! :o)

Basic set up of installing the drain in the deepest part of the pond under the liner.
The bottom drain is installed under the liner with flexible PVC pipe (not included)
 running from the bottom drain and connecting to the front of the skimmer.  A valve
is connected to the flexible PVC pipe inside the skimmer to adjust the water flow
coming from the bottom drain which, in turn, affects and controls the water coming
in from the skimmer's face plate (large opening in the front as shown in the picture below).
Installing a bottom drain is a great idea; it improves the overall 'cleaning' of the pond
because the bottom drain helps to keep the bottom of the pond clean from sediments
building up in addition to circulating the water from the bottom of the pond besides
the top portion of the pond. 

The water entering through the skimmer's face plate carries floating debris in the skimmer
where it is collected/filtered and can be easily removed.  Floating debris includes dead bugs,
leaves, dead aquatic leaves, etc. 

The water entering the bottom drain keeps the bottom of the pond clean, too from
dirt, debris, fish wastes, sediment, muck, etc.  So, by having a bottom drain you
really have a great set up to keep your pond clean! :o)

In addition to installing a bottom drain kit in your pond kit, another great idea is to install
one of our optional UV lights that can be built-in right into the skimmer!  This adds
additional 'cleaning' to your pond with the UV light killing algae cells (and bacteria, parasites, etc.)
that pass through it.  This can result in a crystal clear pond!  Check out which pond kits
shown above offer this optional UV light kit.

Dig the pond and skimmer area first.  Then, install the bottom drain kit as shown above.

pond liner.  The PVC bottom is shown below and the 'cap' would be inside
your pond.

The bottom drain is installed under the liner.  Flexible PVC pipe carries the water under the liner to the skimmer box.  A bulkhead fitting is installed in the skimmer.  A PVC male adapter connects the flex PVC to the bulkhead fitting.  A valve is placed inside the skimmer box to control the flow.  When the pump is turned on, the water will flow into the skimmer through the skimmer face place (surface water) as well as the bottom drain.  You can control how much water goes in thru the top/bottom inlets with the valve on the bottom drain.  Bottom drain kits include SCEBD bottom drain, bulkhead fitting, valve and fittings.  It DOES NOT INCLUDE PVC pipe.  2" kit recommended for SCPS1 skimmers, 3" for SCPS2 skimmers.
